The reel is pre-spooled with premium 6lb monofilament line, so you can hit the water right away however would highly recommend buying a spool of new line for about $5 to avoid line twist. The graphite body and rotor make the reel lightweight and durable, while the anodized aluminum spool adds further strength and longevity.

Lew's Hank Parker Speed Spin Combo Review:

I purchased the Lew's Hank Parker Speed Spin Combo a few months ago from Walmart with the intention of testing out a more affordable rod setup for bass fishing in local ponds. In the past, I've tried various inexpensive brands and had some success, but the Lew's combo caught my attention, especially with its price tag of $21. The rod itself is a 6.6-foot, 2-piece design that immediately struck me as sturdy and well-designed.

I was pleasantly surprised. During one outing, I managed to land a nice 4lb largemouth bass using a wacky rigged trick worm while flipping near boat docks. The rod performed exceptionally well, on par with my more expensive setups like the St Croix.

I did end up switching out the reels to a Shimano Fishing Sienna 2500 also purchased at Walmart testing out a less expensive brand and a reel I have had for a little while now and enjoy paired on the Lew's fishing rod.

One of my recurring issues has been breaking fishing rods, particularly the tips. With that in mind, I decided to give this affordable option a try, and it exceeded my expectations. The casting was smooth and effortless, and I experienced a solid, strong hook set. I wholeheartedly recommend this rod for beginner to intermediate anglers. Sometimes, it's not about having the most expensive gear, but rather enjoying yourself and reeling in fish.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase of the Lew's Hank Parker Speed Spin Combo. It offers excellent performance at a budget-friendly price, proving that you don't always need to splurge on high-end gear to have a successful and enjoyable fishing experience.

What is the difference between this & more expensive setups?

The Lew's Hank Parker Speed Spin Combo offers an affordable option for anglers, but how does it compare to more expensive setups? While higher-end setups may boast advanced features and materials, there are a few key differences to consider:

  • Construction and Materials: More expensive setups often utilize premium materials such as high modulus graphite or carbon fiber, which provide enhanced sensitivity and strength. They may also incorporate advanced technologies and construction techniques to optimize performance.

  • Components and Reel Features: Higher-end setups typically feature top-of-the-line components, including high-quality reels with advanced drag systems, smoother bearings, and precise gear ratios. They may offer additional features like anti-reverse mechanisms, sealed bearings, and ergonomic handles for superior control and durability.

  • Design and Aesthetics: Expensive setups often showcase sleek designs and premium finishes, with attention to detail in every aspect, from rod guides to reel seat design. The aesthetics of a higher-end setup can be more visually appealing and can add a touch of sophistication to your fishing gear collection.

  • Customizability and Options: While budget-friendly combos like the Lew's Hank Parker Speed Spin Combo offer excellent value, pricier setups may offer a wider range of options and customization. This includes the ability to select specific rod lengths, actions, and reel models that best suit your fishing preferences and target species.

  • Warranty and Customer Support: More expensive setups often come with better warranty coverage and customer support. Manufacturers of high-end fishing gear tend to offer longer warranties and reliable after-sales services, giving anglers peace of mind in case of any defects or issues with their equipment.

It's important to note that while more expensive setups may offer advantages in terms of materials, components, and design, the Lew's Hank Parker Speed Spin Combo provides a reliable and capable option at an affordable price point. It's a great choice for anglers looking for a quality setup without breaking the bank, especially for beginners or intermediate anglers who want to enjoy fishing without a hefty investment.
