Fishing Rods Are Not Created Equal

  • Spinning Rods
  • Casting Rods
  • Fly Fishing Rods

With Bass Fishing there are plenty of manufactures to choose from and so many sizes and styles to choose from sometimes it feels a little overwhelming but don’t worry we will do our best to help you identify what you will need from beginner level to expert tournament angler.

So Many Choices

The first thing we should think about is what type of fishing style will we be doing such as a finesse your going to want a spinning rod with the highest level of sensitivity to know exactly when that big bass sniffed the worm to giving it a little taste before you decide to set the hook.

All the way to a casting rod where you may decide to tie on a crank-bait or swim-bait allowing for distance and a stiff but sensitive rod to allow you to control the bait all the way to setting that hook and watching that largemouth fly out of the water while you hang on for your life.

Strength Of The Rod

one thing to consider is the strength of the rod, you don’t want to lose that tournament wining fish due to a rod breaking.

With so many variables that goes into fishing especially the type of fishing line being used down to the style and size of the fishing rod.

In this illustration we see an angler getting ready to boat a big bass into the boat however he needs to be very careful with both not snapping the line as well making sure his drag is set on his real correctly to be able to allow the fish to run a few times in order to where that fish out for an easier chance to getting him in the live well to weigh in at the end.

So having a good rod is very important as well a few other areas of the gear.

Having The Right Gear

We like to use a few different Rods when landing big fish like this guy, caught on a crankbait up at Smithville Reservoir using a Carrot Stick Casting Fishing Rod
